My home church in Monroe, Louisiana (New Tabernacle Baptist Church) is holding a real-life forum on singles and marriage. For what I know this is the first time Tab has done anything of this caliber and I was excited to see the church moving in this direction. For years the church as somewhat avoided “real-life” topics and have sort of brush them over with a “turn it over to Jesus” approach, that has not always been effective, leaving people to solve and deal with issues such as being single, marriage, and sex in silo with less than perfect results.
This month at New Tabernacle, single women and men will have the chance to discuss and declare the qualities most important when men seek and women attract a mate. Also, a newly wed couple and seasoned married couple will share what it takes to have a good marriage. These forums will be held November 15-17, 6pm nightly at New Tabernacle Baptist Church located at 810 Breard Street, Monroe, LA. Come out and join the discussion!
Issues such as Christian dating do’s and don’ts, along with grieving, and depression are major topics that a number of Christians face, yet the church is conveniently ignoring them. Furthermore, with the recent issues and allegations of sexual abuse and misuse that has plagued the Christian community for years should be discussed in GREAT length so that people can begin to heal!
There is a desperate need for Christian and spiritually based counselors and therapists. These talented and skillful people are equipped to direct people to the path of healing. They can share how to cope and deal with past hurts, lost, and etc. so that the victorious life and living can be conquered and Christians can live abundant and fruitful live as God meant life to be.
In conversation with the very wise and knowledgeable Roosevelt Wright, Jr., Pastor of New Tabernacle he made a very valuable yet useful point. Pastor Wright mentioned that the 12 points of Boy Scout and the Girl Scout law could be used as criteria for evaluating a potential mate. I thought about it and he is right. Since I am a Girl Scout I will share with you what I subscribe to. Read closely the points and principles of the Girl Scout Law and weigh-in if you think this is a good criteria for evaluation of a potential mate. Anything you would add, subtract, or otherwise? I want to hear from you!
Be the BEST YOU!
Be Queenly, Be Confident,
Zakiya!
His Humble Servant I am
Girl Scout Promise and Law
The Girl Scout Promise and Law are shared by every member of Girl Scouting. The Girl Scout Promise is the way Girl Scouts agree to act every day toward one another and other people, and the Girl Scout Law outlines a way to act towards one another and the world.
The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
GREAT Post RICH Queen! I love what your pastor is doing this month. In 2005 God instructed me to do a 12-city Tour of “Soaring RelationSHIPS: Are You Relat-ing on the SHIP You’re On?”! It was an incredible Tour and the last city was Sacramento. A caucasian lady walked to me crying and thanking me for obeying God and doing the conference (for Singles AM & Couples PM)! She said it changed her life (she was newly divorced); and she said God told her to seed $1000 into me and to encourage me to take the Conference to the nations! And Lord’s will next year we will be doing a “RelationSHIP Revival” to bring a Healing in the Land for ALL Connections to help them Last! JOIN US AT: http://www.SoaringRelationSHIPSThatWillLast.ning.com (The Last Day of each month online we now have at 6:30-7am a RelationSHIP Prayer Call).
ZAKIYA KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND KEEP THE FAITH BECAUSE “The Camels are Coming!!!” (Read Gen. 24 & Ruth chapters 2…3…4). Love and Blessings! Rhonda http://www.RHONDAWHITE.com
